Close Finish in a Tight Contest |
Myo’s Golf Society won the Cider Cup in a closely fought match at a windy Castleknock Golf Club on Friday 12th November. The six matches came down to the last putt in the last match on the 18th for a Myo’s win in the competiton which has not been held for many years. Congratulations and well done to all concerned, especially to our Captain Jed Thompson and President Denny Byram who organised the event. Our thanks to the players of the Laurel Lodge Golf Society who lost narrowly in a very sporting game that finished 3½ to 2½. The weather held up well and the rain started in timely fashion just as the last fourball finished on the 18th green. It is planned to hold The Cider Cup every year from now. The top ten players in the 2011 Player of the League qualify to play in the event, along with two Captain’s picks, so all you have to do to be in the team next year is to play great golf or buy lots of drink for the Captain. The date has not been fixed yet but is likely to be in September. Thanks to Paul Monahan and his team at Castleknock for their warm welcome and a course in great condition (as usual). |
