Captain’s Day at Powerscourt |
|||
It was a great day at the Powerscourt East course for Jason Smith’s Captain’s Prize with seventy five players making the trip to this magnificent Enniskerry course. They were rewarded with a fine day and a course in great condition, even if the rolling greens put a hole in many a good card. Competition was very tight, with many of the prizes being decided on countback. Play was a tad slow at times but a round of just over five hours is not too bad at this championship course and everyone made it back for the dinner in Myo’s for nine o’clock, albeit some with not much time to spare. Most of the players came back to Myo’s on the night for a great meal and a few bottles of vino thrown in for good measure. A day’s golf at a championship course and dinner included, all for €50! Where would you get it? A special thank you to our sponsors on the day, TP and Peter Smith, and to Paul O’Gorman who donated an additional prize for nearest the pin in two. Well done to all seventeen prize-winners of the beatiful Cavan Crystal prizes and to the four 2s winners who went away with €35 each. * President Jim Murray paid tribute at the event to our member Tony Holden, who died unexpectedly last week. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of Tony before the dinner in Myo’s. |
