Powerscourt West outing

A Good Day at Powerscourt West

Willie FitzgeraldOverall winner William Fitzgerald and Captain Jonathan Smith

Our first visit to Powerscourt West on the 19th of September was a great success with kind weather and a good turnout on the day.

We were at Powerscourt East last year and the one thing that really separates these two magnificent tracks in Enniskerry is the greens. The West course has notoriously tricky greens and the fun only really starts when you reach for your putter.

Next year’s President, William Fitzgerald found his form on the day and topped the field, closely followed by Bernard Tully who claimed the runner-up spot. Scores were tight with a mere five points separating all the prize-winners and all but three of them had deductions applied.

Well done also to John O’Grady who holed a three foot putt on the par five sixteenth for an eagle. Unfortunately for John, eagles are not included in the twos club but there was some talk on the night of a change in future. Five people shared the twos pot of €100.

A special welcome back to Agnes Baxter who was playing with us for the first time since Kevin’s death in June (story here). Agnes, a long-time member of Myo’s,  played as a visitor this time and took home the prize in that category.
