It was another great day at Druids Glen for President’s Day with sixty-eight players teeing off on a fine day at the magnificent championship course in Wicklow. Myo’s staffer Kevin Kilduff demolished the field with 41 points to take top honours.

There was a big crowd back in Myo’s for the President’s dinner and much praise all round for the food we ate, both the quality and the presentation.

The visitors prize was sponsored by Declan O’Dea who offered a fourball at Killeen Castle. As it happened, Declan won the prize himself with a great score of 37 points but immediately offered it as the first pick-out of the night. The lucky winner was Tony Doyle, scooping what must surely be our best ever pick-out prize.

Our thanks to Paul O’Gorman who again sponsored the hole-in-two prize as he has now done at all our majors for a few years.

Sean Sheehan, who broke the hearts (and the wallets) of members who scored a two at The Heritage outing in May with an ace that earned him the entire pot of €199 on the day, was presented with a hole-in-one trophy by the President to commemorate the feat (photo here).

Many thanks to our President Eamon Field who also sponsored the outing.

Captain Jonathan Smith announced Noel Murray as his nomination for Captain 2014 and President Eamon Field has chosen William Fitzgerald to fill his jacket next year. We wish them well – they take office at the AGM (see photo and story here).

Next up is Powerscourt West on 19th September – see you there.
