Sunshine at Carton House for the Captain’s Prize | |
It was a hot sunny day for Noel Murray’s Captain’s Prize at the O’Meara course in Carton House and the wind was no more than a light breeze. The scoring was predictably high and John Smyth just pipped Brian Smith with a magnificent forty three points. Brian’s twenty six points on the back nine (one over par gross) wasn’t quite matched by his front nine and he brought home a total just one point shy of taking the trophy. His consolation was that he also won nearest the pin on the magnificent sixteenth hole and made his birdie putt there to share the €98 in the 2s Club pot with Kieran O’Brien. It was great to see a big turnout for the Captain’s Dinner in Myo’s and there were many compliments for the catering crew. Our thanks to Diageo (Guinness to you) for sponsoring the outing, to Carton House who put up the prizes for the Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin and to Paul O’Gorman who once again gave a special prize for Nearest the Pin in Two. See you in Luttrellstown.
