OUR NEXT OUTING: |
Portmarnock Links | ||||
Thursday 6th October |
Portmarnock Golf Links is a championship course built on land that was once home to the Jameson whiskey family – they’re long gone but you can still sample their product at the Jameson bar in the hotel if the notion takes you. This magnificent 6,444-metre (7,047 yds) links opened in 1995. The Jamesons had built a private nine hole course on the site in 1858 and that was one of Ireland’s first golf facilities. Even though the original course disappeared many years ago, architect Bernhard Langer incorporated some of its elements into his modern design. The first 6 holes are played away from the coastal area before moving towards the sea and then along the Irish Sea in the home stretch. This challenging track has proved very popular with our members over the years. This is a great venue to open our 2016 tour and we expect to see a big turnout, so get your name down early. See you there. |
